Bowling Teams Sweep Conference Opener at Wayne County
Both bowling teams participated in the MCCAA Conference opener at Oak Lanes, hosted by Wayne County. Both Laker teams were looking to build on their fall season, and get off on the right foot in conference play.
The women won the tournament in dominant fashion, winning by nearly 450 pins over second place Schoolcraft College. Skylar Davy led the team on the day with a 202 high game and a 515 series. The 515 series was good for third best in the tournament. Khaila Bullard was second for the Lakers with a 482 series and a 201 high game.
The men's side came down to the wire, with the Lakers exchanging leads with Schoolcraft College in the baker games. The Lakers entered the final baker game with a single pin lead. It took a string of filled frames, and the Lakers pulled out a 20 pin win on the tournament. Cole Swanberg led the way in the tournament with a 638 series. Cole also threw a 242 game, good for second among the field. Jase Clairmont turned in a 575 series, including a 200 game. Taylor Parker shot a 559 series. All three performances for the Lakers were good for a top five finish in the tournament.
Both teams will return to action on Friday, January 12th at the next MCCAA Conference event in Muskegon, which will be a crossover event. Scoring will begin a 9:30 AM.
