Bowling Teams Clinch Eastern Conference with Home Wins

Both bowling teams came into the conference season finale looking to lock up the second consecutive MCCAA Eastern Conference crown since the conference alignment's inception last season.

The women's team got off to a hot start, amassing an 800 series each of the three petersen game blocks, building up a comfortable lead heading into bakers. From there the Lakers added onto their lead, winning the event by just over 500 pins.

Khaila Bullard led the women's team with a 540 series, good for second in the women's tournament field. Bullard's high game was a 209, which was also good for second in the women's tournament field. Skylar Davy was a close second in both categories to Bullard, shooting a 530 series and carrying a 206 high game. Both of those marks for Davy resulted in third best of the tournament.

After falling behind by around 50 pins in the first petersen game, the men came back and took a 30 pin lead after game two, and erupted with a 1049 game three to create a near 300 pin cushion heading into bakers. The men held off the Schoolcraft College Ocelots by 107 pins.

Ruberto Mosqueda led the men's team with a 668 series and a high game of 256. Both were good for second behind Saint Clair County Community College's Aiden Briguglio 300 game and 670 series. Brett Petersen shot 603 and a 223 high game. Petersen's 603 was good for fourth in the tournament field.

The pair of team event victories resulted in the Lakers clinched the MCCAA Eastern Conference for both the men and the women. The conference alignment was created last season, and the Lakers have won both regular season crowns for both the men and the women.

The teams return to the lanes on Friday, February 9th at Merri-Bowl in Livonia to compete in the MCCAA Conference Tournament. Scoring will begin at 9:00 AM.
