Softball Sweeps Alma College JV

The Lady Laker softball team took the field against Alma College JV in the first games back north since their spring training trip in Florida.

Game one the Lakers won handily, 10-1 over the Scots. Eight of the nine girls in the lineup had a hit in the contest. Mackenzie Lane had a 3-4 hitting performace including a pair of doubles and 4 RBIs. Haley Gibson and Ella Clauss both went 2-4 at the plate with a double. Janelle Yarnell and Shelby Bundy both also turned in multi-hit games. On the mound, Heidi Nagel was overpowering the Scots all game long. She threw all 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits and only one run crossed the plate. Nagel also racked up 11 strikeouts. 

Game two was another offensive explosion for the Lakers, which they'd go on to win in a high scoring affair 15-11. Similar to the first game, eight Lakers cracked into the hit column en route to 14 hits as a team. Baylee Ex, Angelina Lanham, and Maggie Wallace each had three hits in the game. Olyviah Hanson, Mackenzie Hoogerhyde, and Janelle Yarnell each had two hits apiece. Gibson and Yarnell each had a double. Clauss, Hanson, and Hoogerhyde each drove in three runs, while Lanham, Wallace, and Yarnell each drove in 3 runs in the game.
