Softball's Season Ends in District Tournament
Softball entered the NJCAA Region XII Great Lakes District A tournament to take on Jackson College in their first postseason appearance in program history. It was a double elimination format tournament.
Game one, the Lakers got blanked by Jackson College 3-0. The Lakers only gathered a pair of hits, off the bat of Angelina Lanham and Mackenzie Hoogerhyde. Heidi Nagel threw all six innings, allowing 3 earned runs while striking out seven.
Game two, the Lakers took on the Mott Community College Bears. The Lakers had nine hits, scoring three runs. It was not enough to top the Bears in a 9-3 loss. Nagel again threw all six innings, allowing 5 earned runs to score. Lanham had three hits in the game. Maggie Wallace went 2-3 with a solo homerun. Olyviah Hanson also had a pair of hits. Janelle Yarnell and Ella Clauss each had a hit, Clauss drove in a run as well.
The Lady Laker softball program, although their season ended in the first round of the tournament, the season was a great success. They qualified for the postseason for the first time in program history and gathered their first 20-win season in program history.
