Three Softball Players Receive MCCAA Northern Conference Honors
The coaches from each school in the MCCAA Northern Conference submitted their ballots for the All-Conference selections, and the results tabbed three Laker softball players receiving All-Conference Honors.
Maggie Wallace received Second Team All-Northern Conference honors as voted on by the coaches. Wallace hit .367 good for second on the team with 10 extra-base hits and 22 RBI on the season.
Janelle Yarnell was voted First Team All-Northern Conference as well as was voted to the All-Freshman team for the Northern Conference. Yarnell batted .432 leading the Lakers, while blasting 11 homeruns and driving in 36 runs, which also led the team. Yarnell also had a slugging percentage of .800 on the season. Her 11 homeruns led the conference.
Heidi Nagel was voted First Team All-Northern Conference, named to the All-Freshman team for the Northern Conference, and was named MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Year. Nagel racked up a 17-9 record with a 2.17 ERA and 257 strikeouts. All of those statistics were program records in what was a historic season in the youthful program's history.
