Bio

Austin is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach in the women's program in 2025-26. Mayfield - originally from Alma - completed his undergrad at SVSU and finished his Masters for Sports Administration at CMU.

He has helped the Lakers to three straight MCCAA State Championships, three straight NJCAA Region 12 Championships, and three straight NJCAA DII National Tournament appearances. Austin was also a part of the staff that led Mid to a seventh place finish at Nationals in 2024-25, the highest finish in school history.   

Mayfield has also spent three years in the AAU coaching ranks with REAL Basketball. 

Coach Austin loves the game, and brings great energy every day to the gym to help the team continue to improve.
