Sims Scores 40, Leads Lakers over Pioneers in 2OT
Men's basketball took the road to take on a scrappy Delta College team, looking to clinch a postseason bid. They did just that, although it was a battle tested game, besting Delta College 99-95 in a double overtime thriller. The Lakers held a 38-28 halftime advantage, but the Pioneers hit a three-pointer with 13 seconds left in the game to tie it up at 77, evidently pushing the game to OT. After an even OT, the Lakers outscored the Pioneers 13-9 in the second overtime to hold on for the win. Leading the way with a massive offensive explosion was Jayden Sims, who scored 40 points on 8-13 from three. Sims nearly had a double-double, adding in 9 rebounds. Satchel Love had a double-double performance, scoring 13 points to pair with 10 rebounds. Javel Lewis Jr. contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds. Delon McCloud had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and a pair of assists. Makhi McCombs and Nick Ellis also both scored 10 points apiece. The Lakers return to action Saturday, 2/18 vs. Kirtland Community College.
