KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Four starters reached double figures for the No. 10 Mid Michigan College men's basketball team, however it was not enough as the Lakers were defeated 108-96 by No. 8 Macomb in the MCCAA State Semifinals on Friday night at Kalamazoo Valley.
The win by the Monarchs (25-4) sends them to tomorrow's MCCAA State Final against host Kalamazoo Valley at 3:00 PM.
Mid's record falls to 24-5 overall as they will regroup and get set for Great Lakes District C Tournament play next weekend.
James Wright led the Lakers with 28 points and nine rebounds, Amonti Greene added 24 points and five assists, De'Antre Griffin posted 16 points, while Joe Iung had 12 points.
Josh Hines led Macomb with 25 points.
The Lakers enter the District Tournament as the No. 1 seed and will face the winner of the Glen Oaks-Lansing quarterfinal on Thursday, March 6 at 9 a.m. from the Ballenger Fieldhouse on the campus of Mott Community College.
