Men's Basketball's Season Ends in District Semifinals
After a 85-64 quartefinal drubbing of Kirtland Community College to open postseason play, men's basketball looked ahead to the NJCAA Great Lakes District C semifinals, in pursuit of a bid to the automatic tournament.
They drew #8 Macomb Community College Monarchs at Ballenger Fieldhouse on the campus of Mott Community College.
It was a defensive slugfest, and the Lakers found themselves in a 26-26 ball game at halftime. The Monarchs defense proved to be too much for the Lakers, who were outscored 31-21 in the second half, resulting in a 57-47 loss ending the Lakers season. Jayden Sims led the team in scoring with 16 points.
It was a record-setting season for the Laker basketball team. It was the first 20-win season under Coach House, making it the first in program history. The Lakers ended the season with a 22-7 record and a postseason bid. They went 12-2 in conference play, finishing second in the inaugural MCCAA Northern Conference. The Lakers will return 6 players next season including major contributors Delon McCloud, Devin Watts, and Nick Ellis.
