Men's Basketball Outlasts #19 St. Clair County in Overtime to Win Season Opener

Men's basketball was looking to build on last season, a year in which the Lakers won 22 games, a program season record. The Lakers fell behind 35-30 at the halftime intermission, and fell down by as many as 17 points in the second half. A strong surge to knot the game up at 77-77 late resulted in the Lakers forcing an overtime period. In the overtime period, returner Delon McCloud took over scoring 10 points in overtime to surge the Lakers past #19 Saint Clair County 91-86. McCloud led the team in scoring with 30 points. He also had 4 rebounds and 4 assists. De'Antre Griffin also turned in a strong performance with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Griffin shot an efficient 7-13 from the field. Joe Iung provided some energy off the bench, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 total rebounds. Kaleb Wanamaker hit some clutch three pointers en route to a 13 point performance. The Lakers return to action on November 3rd when they take on #14 Parkland College as a part of the Edison State Tip-Off Tournament.
