Men's Hoops Overcomes Halftime Deficit to Earn Ranked Win over #13 Bay College

Men's basketball came into the regular season finale with the Bay College Norse looking to end the regular season on a high note, heading into postseason play next week. The Lakers had been winners of six games in a row, and were looking to push the win streak to seven games in a row, and their 20th on the season.

As they have for much of the season, the first half was a track meet. The teams exchanged leads for the duration of the first half, but it was the #13 ranked Norse pulling away at the half to take a 4 point lead into the break over the Lakers.

The second half, the Lakers came out firing. They were swinging the ball, getting great looks, and getting out in transition. The Norse could not slow down the Lakers hot shooting. The atmosphere was electric, there were big time shots hit in clutch moments, and it was the Lakers prevailing in the end over Bay College 100-91.

This was yet another ranked win for the Lakers, avenging their loss to the Norse about a month ago. The win is just another key win on what is a strong resume heading into postseason play.

The Lakers were led by Delon McCloud in the game, who hit seemingly big shot after big shot, scoring 31 points in the game on the biggest of stages to this point. McCloud shot an efficient 12-18 from the floor and 6-9 from three. He also added 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. Off the bench, James Wright turned in a monster 20 point game. Wright shot 7-15 from the field, working hard to find himself plenty of looks around the rim. Wright also flirted with a double-double, bringing down 8 rebounds as well. Devin Watts hit some big time shots in his own right, scoring 15 points in the game, including some clutch three pointers down the stretch. Watts shot 4-7 from three. He also contributed 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and a pair of steals. Nick Ellis rounded out the double digit scorers for the Lakers with 12 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor. Ellis had a few rim rocking dunks, while grabbing 4 rebounds.

The Lakers will return to action in the first round of the Great Lakes District Tournament, when they host the 5 seed from the MCCAA Northern Conference on Tuesday, March 5th at 7:00 PM.
