Bio

Vynce Overshown is a native of Hammond, Indiana, with roots in Lake County, and a 2023 graduate of Hammond Central High School. As the youngest in his family, Overshown credits his upbringing and strong family ties as major influences on his character. One of his biggest challenges has been being far from family and friends while pursuing college athletics, but that distance has strengthened his independence and focus. His journey is defined by persistence—through years of hard work and training, he developed his game and earned the opportunity to play college basketball.

Overshown was a multi-sport athlete in high school, competing in basketball, cross country, and track. On the court, he was part of four conference championship teams, two sectional championships, and a regional championship. In cross country, he also earned a conference title. He is the son of Erica Jordan and Victor Overshown, who played college basketball at Vincennes, further inspiring Vynce’s path in the sport.

He learned about Mid Michigan College after Coach House recognized his talent at a Chicago showcase and offered him a roster spot. Overshown chose Mid for the opportunity to continue playing the game he loves while being pushed through daily practice and weight training to reach his full potential. His goal is to use his time at Mid to earn opportunities at the NCAA Division II level.

Academically, Overshown plans to major in Psychology and earn an associate degree before transferring to a four-year institution. He is focused on developing strong study habits while continuing to grow both as a student and athlete at Mid Michigan College
