Men's Basketball:

 

Last Time Out: De'Antre Griffin scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Mid Michigan College (7-3) men's basketball team to an 88-80 overtime victory at No. 2 Macomb (7-1) on Friday (Dec. 6) afternoon. James Wright added 18 points, four rebounds, and four steals.

Amonti Greene had 17 points, three rebounds, and four assists, while Jayden Hardiman had 10 points and nine rebounds. Vynce Overshown posted 13 points off the bench. 

SCOUTING SC4: The Skippers enter Monday's matchup with the Lakers with a 9-1 overall record. They went 2-0 this past weekend during their own holiday tournament, defeating Milwaukee Area Tech 107-102 on Friday (Dec. 6), and dispatching Glen Oaks 78-75 on Saturday (Dec. 7). Mackhi Jackson leads the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game, while Elijah Hennings averages 15.4 points per contest and a team high 8.6 rebounds per game. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Wright continues to lead the Lakers in scoring with 20.8 points per game, while Griffin posts 16.9 points per game. Greene averages a team best 3.6 assists per contest, while Wright is also leading the rebound effort with 8.7 per game. The Lakers as a team average 35.9 rebounds a contest, while their opponents are only averaging 33.7 a game. Mid outrebounded Macomb 47-41 on Friday.

 

Women's Basketball:

Last Time Out: The No. 12 Lakers (8-2) ran their winning streak to four games following a 72-46 victory over Macomb Community College (3-4) on Friday (Dec. 6). Mid only led by two at halftime but used a big second half to claim the win. Chloe Watson scored 16 points to go along with nine rebounds while Rachel Resio added 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Jiaryatou Cisse posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while also recording three blocks. 

The Lakers moved up one spot in the NJCAA DII Women's Basketball rankings on Monday (Dec. 9), going from 13th to 12th. 

SCOUTING KVCC: The Cougars enter Friday night's game with a 5-3 overall record. They suffered a close 64-60 loss to Muskegon last Saturday (Dec. 7). Glorivel Rodriguez-Rosario leads the team in scoring with 22.6 points per game as well as rebounding with 10.5 per game. Felicia Thomas is the head coach for KVCC, she is assisted by Nancy Willmore and Daejia Hill. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Watson and Resio continue to pace the Lakers offensively, averaging 15.1 and 15 points per game and shooting 41% and 40.9% from the field. Cisse leads the Lakers in rebounding with 6.8 per game. Mid as a team has been outstanding on the glass this year, out rebounding opponents 43.4-33.7. The Lakers are also second in the MCCAA in scoring with 87.8 points per game, trailing only Oakland Community College.
